As C mentioned, she and I are on vacation in the Adirondack mountains!
I brought my favorite bird (which I made last week!) with me on our trip. This rock is right next to the Donovan family cabin. C remembers when this rock was HUGE to her. She was queen of this mountain and now I am. :)
Hanging with the C's mom and dad, we decided to go for a walk to check out the new bridge near the cabin. Once finished, we will be able to kayak under the bridge, instead of carrying our kayak or canoe over the causeway. The worker's were on lunchbreak, so I got to check it out up close!
Along our walk back, C's parents really got into pointing out good places for me to take photos. Of course this gnome was a great friend to meet (many people compare our blog to that part of the Amelie movie in which she steals her father's gnome and takes pictures of it in many exotic locations). We had to take this photo quick, because there was a no trespassing sign (common in these parts) painted on the rock, just below the camera frame and the owner of this property yelled at C's mom last week for walking out on his dock. (C's mom likes to take pictures of blue heron's and loons in the lake. Like mother like daughter.)
Then C's parents thought of an even better place for me to take pictures: a gnome's house! They assured me the owner of this property is kind to strangers, so we could be leisurely with our photo taking. :)
I could really get used to this Adirondack lifestyle.
The road to the bridge is pretty funny; people have friends my size everywhere! After exhausting the gnome options, C's mom remembered a cute cat who looks at the lake with binoculars. The cat was kind enough to share her perch with me and she did have a sweet view.
Throughout all of this picture taking, C's parent's dog Aubrey, a one year old Golden Doodle, was getting both curious and jealous. She kept trying to lung at me whenever I was posing; my safety became a concern. Finally C decided Aubrey and I should formally be introduced. Knowing that this might be the end of me, C got the camera ready and C's mom allowed Aubrey to approach. Ach! Kisses upon kisses. She is wild, but very friendly.
When we got back to the cabin, C decided to introduce me to their older dog, a basset hound, Dagwood. Dagwood was a gentleman, sniffing me kindly.
All in all, bird and I have enjoyed the trip thus far. We like being on vacation.

p.s. After the dog incident (and although not explicit in the above photo, while sitting on the dock AGAIN my shoes were in the water), I am noticing a trend in which C keeps encouraging me to correspond in dangerous situations, pointing out that it makes for better story telling. Hmm.
