c & C Chicago. week 12. the arrival

Just in the nick of time at the end of week 12, we are able to upload pictures! Our awesome friend BW (lighting designer in last week's post) lent us his battery charger, so that we could upload our photos.

We cannot believe there was a tight rope walker in B-lo. That makes it almost ok that you moved there :) Up on that rope he looks c size. Maybe c n.f. should learn to walk the line? (just a thought)

As we mentioned at the end of last week your care package arrived!

c had been going down to the mail box each day to check and on the perfect day, there was a letter addressed to C from C. c ripped open the letter (which took some time it was half her size) and found inside a mini letter addressed to her!
And so, after a rough couple of days we, C&c, sat together in a red chair and enjoyed our care package! You both are the best of friends and made us glad to be of the world.

A couple years ago I created a toy theatre piece to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Blondin

crossing the gorge...  I shared this with c,  it was her first encounter with two of my passions:  Blondin and

Toy Theatre.

Today Didier Pasquette will be crossing between the two liberty statues in downtown Buffalo to

commemorate the work of Blondin...

Can't wait.

dear c, C & friends,
c & I have things we would like to share with you all. However, it turns out that the battery charger for my camera was stolen along with every other little important thing (save c!) and I am not sure how we will get photos onto the computer. Hopefully something will be figured out by the end of week 12.

sweetest things in d.C. are...

the longest esCALATOr in the world...

it basically takes days to get to the top.

a guy on the street playing a kazoo...

the ford theatre were Lincoln was shot...

and a painting of N.F. that hung in the home were Lincoln died.

Just at the moment that we had entered into that awful pit stage of self pity and sadness, realizing every little item that was in the bag when it was stolen....your letters came! We are the luckiest c(C)'s.

c Chicago. week 11. part 3. I COULDA BEEN STOLEN

Last evening C was out thrift shopping for the Helen of Troy show when her car window was smashed and bags stolen along with phone. My concern is that my favorite bag of travel was stolen. How will I get around now! I am going through the first stage of emotions. fear and disillusionment.

I found theatre tech a bit stressful. The lovely costume designer Ms.B offered to teach me some yoga to destress and work on my breathing. You always must finish with relaxation. Ahhh. Ms.B thought of one last pose for me to try: As soon as Ms.B let go, I had a hard time holding the pose:

c Chicago. week 11. part 1. doppel-c the set designer.

c,
thanks so much for sending me a care package! it has not arrived yet, but i check every day. i am feeling much better this week. however, I think C might have caught my cold. she is sick in bed and is so busy, that I have been having to be her doppel-c. As doppel-c, I went to my first theatre tech! at Steep Theatre on the production of Helen of Troy. C is the set designer. So, for a night, I was the doppel-set designer.

I started the evening discussing with the director, J, all the notes that I saw. The major set piece is a girls room. I requested some more pink clothing. And maybe a poster of the c's (shameless self promotion...)
Then I went over to the Lighting Designer's area and discussed the arc of the beach moments with BW. I also mentioned to him that my favorite color is BRIGHT pink, like my shirt. And could we please get more pink into this show? (I think he liked this idea.) With the actors I discussed intentions and how props can help them out in terms of location and character. I loved that pretty pink skirt! (go DB!) After a "run", (although no one ran...???) I sat down with the lead actress, C, and told her how remarkable I find her. Also, I told her she is beautiful. Seemed like most of the play that was all she needed...so finally I just told her. Also, she made me cry (in a good cathartic way). Then the director J and us designers sat around, drank some wine, and discussed our thoughts. I really liked that part.

C Chicago. week 10. part b.

C here writing for a sleeping c. I just had to force c to stop working and get some sleep. c has been diligently attempting to create the next element of her world for this week's blog post. However, she just came down with a wicked cold, which I think is due to the major temperature drop here in Chicago; it all of a sudden became fall last weekend (as our Chicago friends know!).
Her nose is completely stuffed and she has a major head cold.

I think what she needs most is some rest. Hopefully soon she will be back to her old creative overworking self! Or else you are all stuck with my teaching, teching, scene painting life style for news.
